Every airport, one page each

Which Greek islands are actually open in winter?

Every Greek island and mainland town with a winter flight, rated 1–5 for how much is genuinely open between October and April. The short answer is just below.

The short answer

Every island, by how much stays open

Twenty-nine islands with a winter flight, grouped by our 1–5 rating. Crete never really closes; a handful of small islands very nearly do. The ratings are also free to download and reuse.

Sleepy — go for the emptiness · 2/5
Barely awake · 1/5

Here's the part most guides skip: not every airport is worth your winter, and we'll say so on the page rather than after you've landed. Each one carries an open-o-meter — a blunt 1-to-5 read on how awake that corner actually is between October and April. Some hum. Some hibernate. We don't bury the quiet corners; the list just tells you, up front, which is which.

What the five dots mean
The open-o-meter runs 1 to 5. A 4 or 5 is properly alive — restaurants full, museums open, a town that never noticed the season change. A 3 is quietly ticking over. A 1 or 2 means bring a book and low expectations. It rates winter reality, not summer reputation.
We list the sleepy ones too
We didn't quietly drop the airports that go dark in winter. They're all here, honestly rated, because a 2 with an empty old town and one heroic bakery is exactly right for some travellers and a warning for others. You decide — we just refuse to pretend.
One flight changes everything
The gap between two airports an hour apart can be enormous. Land in the mild south and it's coffee outdoors; land in the mountains and it's snow chains. Same country, same week, completely different trip — so choose the arrival that matches the winter you actually want.

Temperatures are typical winter averages, not guarantees — the south is mild but evenings are cold and rain still comes through. Always confirm opening hours before booking.
