The idea that Greece switches off after October survives mainly because nobody photographs the alternative. Between late October and March the country runs a near-continuous calendar of name days, carnivals, saints and fire — most of it aimed squarely at Greeks rather than visitors, which is exactly what makes it worth showing up for.
